Do you want to learn how to develop good speaking, writing, reading or listening tests? In’to Languages offers three courses on test development:

- Speaking and writing test development course
- Reading and listening test development course
1. Basic workshop on test development
This workshop teaches you how to develop a good language test. You will also learn how to identify weaknesses in existing tests. The workshop is practical in nature and uses clear examples. We use your tests as a starting point.
You will learn:
- to formulate test goals;
- to create a test matrix (a blueprint of the test);
- to create a first version of a test;
- to search for suitable reading and listening texts using the internet;
- to estimate the level of a text (and we provide tips on how to lower the level);
- what pitfalls there are when writing multiple-choice questions;
- to develop open and closed questions.
2. Speaking and writing test development course
Want to develop your own formative speaking and writing tests for English, Dutch, French or German? Testing according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) means functional and task-oriented testing. You will learn to develop speaking and writing tests based on the CEFR in this course.
You will learn:
- how to develop functional language tasks;
- how to write good assignments that elicit a lot of production;
- what the pitfalls are when writing open questions;
- how to make good and reliable assessment models.
- The course takes two half-days. You will send the first version of your test to the trainer between training days. You will get feedback on your test on the second day.
By the end of the course, you will have created your own writing or speaking test, complete with instructions and assessment model.
3. Reading and listening test development course
This course will help you take your first steps in developing reading or listening tests (Dutch, NT2, English, German or French) using appealing examples and practical assignments.
You will learn:
- to formulate test objectives and create a test matrix;
- where and how to find suitable authentic material for reading and listening tasks;
- to determine the language level of a text and how to adjust it;
- to store and edit audio and video materials;
- to develop reliable multiple-choice questions;
- to determine passing grades for your tests.
This course is made up of three half-day sessions. You will send the first version of your test to the trainer between training days. You will get feedback on your test before the next session.
By the end of the course, you will have created your own reading or listening test, complete with test matrix, instructions and assessment model.
