If your studies are delayed because of extraordinary circumstances, you may be eligible for financial support. You should inform your student advisor of your circumstances as soon as possible.
Who is eligible?
Anyone who has incurred a study delay due to one of the following set of circumstances is eligible for financial support:
- Personal circumstances, such as illness, disability or having to take on the role of informal carer;
- Circumstances beyond one’s control;
- Student board members and participational bodies
Available support
Radboud University offers financial support to students who have incurred a delay in their studies, if they meet the necessary conditions. The financial support that you will receive may be as much as the amount that you receive each month from the Education Executive Agency (DUO). In the 2023-2024 academic year this was €345.45 per month, in 2024-2025 this is €380.00 per month. If you receive a supplementary grant, you will also be compensated for this amount. This type of financial support is a gift and is therefore exempt from taxes.
Inform your study advisor
You should inform your study advisor of your study delay as soon as possible and within three months. You should also inform your study advisor of your study delay if you expect to fall behind with your studies in the near future. Your study advisor can be found through your faculty’s Student Information Point.
Requesting support
After informing your study advisor, you need to take a few steps. Be sure to start the process as early as possible. This process is in OSIRIS and you will receive notification emails when you need to take action. At the end of your studies you can request the financial support via OSIRIS.
