The researchers at the Research Institute for Philosophy, Theology and Religious Studies work on fundamental questions about the nature, place, and meaning of humanity in the world. Their research covers philosophical, theological, and sociocultural topics, in particular philosophical and religious concepts and worldviews from past and present.
Our research is spread over six research centers.
The Center for the History of Philosophy and Science (CHPS) investigates the intertwining of the history of philosophy and science.
The Center for Textual, Historical, and Systematic Studies of Judaism and Christianity (CTHS) investigates the Christian and Jewish traditions that have influenced society over the last 3000 years.
The Center for Cognition, Culture, and Language (CCCL) investigates how language, culture and cognition influence each other.
The Center for Religion and Contemporary Society (CRCS) studies the current position and role of religion and spirituality in contemporary society.
The Center for Contemporary European Philosophy (CCEP) is the only scientific research center in The Netherlands that specializes in education and research on 20th and 21st-century continental philosophy.
The major questions society currently grapples with demand a new philosophy; a more constructive, involved and approachable one. The Radboud Center for Philosophy and Society locates itself on the intersection of philosophy and society to gain new insights.
Researchers at the Research Institute PTR work on many different projects. Here is a small selection of our current research.
