Bachem Award 2024 for excellence in Peptide Chemistry

Kevin Neumann, Assistant Professor in the Department of Systems Chemistry at the Institute for Molecules and Materials (IMM) of Radboud University, has received the Bachem AtPS Award for Peptide Science. This award is for early career scientists to acknowledge and recognize outstanding contributions to field of peptide chemistry. “I am truly honored by this recognition of my team’s work. It is inspiring to see our chemistry so widely appreciated, and I am confident that we will continue making a meaningful impact in accessing complex chemical structures, including peptides as well as synthetic polymers, with applications such as drug delivery”, Kevin Neumann says.

Synthesis of complex biomolecules

In addition to its research on chemistry applicable to drug delivery and activation, the Neumann lab places a strong emphasis on bioorganic chemistry, with a particular focus on peptide and protein chemistry. By employing innovative and cutting-edge chemical tools, the research team is able to access and study complex biomolecules that hold significant potential as therapeutic agents or diagnostic tools. This research direction has fostered numerous ongoing collaborations and has now been formally recognized with the prestigious AtPS award.

Bachem AtPS Award

The Austrian Award for Peptide Science is sponsored by the Bachem AG and presented to early-career scientists who have made outstanding contributions to the chemistry and/or biology of peptides in the three years prior to the selection date. As the winner of this award, Neumann will receive EUR 1,000. The award was presented at the 13th edition of the Austrian Peptide Symposium, on December 5, 2024, in Vienna, Austria.
