Belle Vulto and Max Theunisse win Prof Tijn Kortmann Prize 2023

On Thursday 19 October 2023, the Professor Tijn Kortmann Prize for publications was awarded during the Van der Grinten Lecture. Civil law lecturer Belle Vulto and administrative law lecturer Max Theunisse were honoured to receive the prizes.

The Stichting Rechtenalumni Nijmegen (SRN) is the initiator of this prize, which aims to stimulate and reward excellence among PhD students and junior lecturers at Nijmegen's law faculty. The prize is twofold and is awarded annually for publications lying in the research area of the Radboud Business Law Institute (OO&R) and the Research Centre for State & Law (SteR). Winning the Prof Tijn Kortmann Prize comes with a sum of EUR 1,250. The SRN received sixteen entries this year: eight for OO&R, eight for SteR.

Belle Vulto (OO&R) won the prize for her essay 'The forgotten weapon against insolvency clauses: art. 35b Fw and the negotium mixtum cum donatione'. Max Theunisse (SteR) received the prize for his essay 'Transparency standards for ministers and state secretaries'. Both PhD students received the prize from the chairman of the jury, Mr Yvo van Kuijck, prior to this year's Van der Grinten Lecture 2023, which was delivered by honorary doctor Geert Corstens.
