On Tuesday 19 September the first Management Committee Meeting of the COST-Action ‘The Great Leap. Multidisciplinary approaches to health inequalities, 1800-2022’ took place. During this meeting more than 40 scholars from 33 countries were present to discuss the goals, activities and budget of the first year. Moreover, Tim Riswick was officially elected as chair of the network.
The main aim of the network is to achieve a greater understanding of the historical roots and drivers of health inequalities across regions and countries in Europe and beyond. To achieve this the action will create a pan-European network of researchers and stakeholders that will develop new multidisciplinary approaches and innovative cutting-edge analytical tools, organized in five Working Groups focusing on (1) Inventorying cause of death sources and research questions, (2) Methods and tools for standardisation, coding and classifying causes of death, (3) Creation analytical tools: computational and visualisation tools, (4) Coordination of training program and STSMs for YRIs, and (5) Communication & Dissemination.
