As IMM director, Kimel will lead one of the largest research institutes within the Faculty of Science and Radboud University, where chemists and physicists collaborate closely to advance molecular and materials science. With a strong focus on fundamental research, IMM is nationally and internationally recognised for its interdisciplinary approach and its contribution to addressing major societal challenges. These include the transition to sustainable energy, the development of quantum technologies, and breakthroughs in medicine and materials science.
Together with researchers, students and partners, Kimel will help further develop the future of scientific excellence at IMM. "My entire scientific career is deeply connected to the IMM. It is both an honour and a responsibility to contribute to the future of our relatively young institute, which already has a rich history. We have many achievements to be proud of. I sincerely thank the IMM board and the entire IMM community for their support, and I am truly excited to take on this new role and help guide the institute through challenging but certainly not boring times", Kimel says.
The current director Prof. Floris Rutjes and Managing Director Ralph Jaspers are happy that in Prof. Kimel a strong successor has been found and wish him all the best in his new role.
