Taco Brandsen and Ina Radtke launch European project on democracy

Taco Brandsen and Ina Radtke (Department of Public Administration) have launched the European project RADAR (Renewing Administration through Democratic Anchorage Reforms). The project focuses on how civil servants in Europe can counteract the decline of democratic norms by shaping policy in a different way, for example through more systematic use of participatory policy-making and policy experiments. Based on the findings, the project will develop educational materials and modules to give democratic practices a greater role in the training of civil servants.

RADAR (2025-2029) has received three million euros in funding from the EU's Horizon Europe programme. Partners include five universities, three national administrative academies, the French Directorate for Public Transformation and the European Agency for Public Administration Accreditation. The project is coordinated by Taco Brandsen.
