Given the increased digitalization of society, this project explores the consequences of lacking or low-level digital skills for female refugees accessing the labor market. Female refugees in the Netherlands have lower employment rates compared to male refugees, other female migrants, and natives. They also tend to have lower digital skills, which may hinder their job opportunities.
The DigiSkills2Work project investigates the connection between digital skills and labor market integration for female refugees. Using an innovative methodology, it combines policy analysis, interviews, focus groups, and participatory activities with female refugees, as well as co-creation activities to foster collaboration between key stakeholders.
The study examines both the challenges female refugees face due to low digital proficiency and the effectiveness of existing support policies. It seeks to determine whether current measures address their specific needs and how digital skills impact their job prospects.
By engaging female refugees, policymakers, NGOs, and employer representatives in a co-creation process, the project aims to develop practical solutions and policy recommendations. The findings will also provide broader insights into the impact of digitalization on migrant and refugee labor market integration.
