Most methods in NLP and linguistics are geared towards dealing with text, not talk. Our research aims to change this by demonstrating the importance of linguistically diverse conversational data (audio+annotations). An important step towards this goal is the development of computational tools. In this project we work with the Netherlands eScience Center to create scientific computing tools that enable inclusive curation, rapid exploration and rich visualization of conversational data.
This project is closely related to the project Elementary particles of conversation.
