Project type
Research

Teaching and learning in science can be promoted by supporting the development of teaching materials (units), learning objectives, and teacher training in Modelling-based Learning (MbL). We will work together with groups of teachers throughout Europe to identify their needs and develop teaching materials and training. By investing in capacity building of MbL on teachers’, teacher-training, curriculum and stakeholders’ levels, we seek to support Science Education throughout Europe.

Activities in the project will be:

  1. Develop a conceptual framework of MbL in science;
  2. Work with teachers in PLCs to develop learning units in MbL;
  3. Develop a series of online self-run training modules for teachers. The outputs (in four languages) will consider diversity, and democratic and virtual practice;
  4. Organise online webinars, hybrid national and international training events, transnational network, provide insights into European schools, and increase self-confidence in informal virtual learning and communication.

Results

Results will include:

  1. A theory-/need-based conceptual framework of MbL in science;
  2. Learning units in MbL;
  3. Modular online training;
  4. Encouragement for MbL practice in European schools, thus strengthening Science Education in Europe;
  5. Dissemination into practical and scientific discourses;
  6. Connecting diverse players in (inter)national school fields and institutions
  7. Contribution to school development and successful student learning.
