Key question
How does education remain in control over learning and educating in which generative AI is used?
How does education remain in control over learning and educating in which generative AI is used? We create an overview of generative AI’s current uses together with teachers and students. We describe the level of control between teacher, AI and student in users’ experiences, and match these to NOLAI’s six levels of automatization. This way we provide insights into generative AI and we develop new ways to use and establish this form of AI in a well-considered manner at schools.
NOLAI is the national education lab AI for primary, secondary, and special education in the Netherlands, funded by the National Growth Fund. €80 million has been awarded for the period of 2022 to 2032 in order to develop prototypes and gather knowledge about AI in education together with schools, corporations, and scientists over the span of ten years. Each academic year, around ten new projects are launched all across the Netherlands. A project takes three years on average.
