The GIP project between the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (AMU), the Radboud University in Nijmegen (RU) and the Philipps University in Marburg (UMR) builds on the trilateral cooperation in research and teaching in the field of German as a foreign language that has been cultivated for many years on. The aim is to strengthen the already very fruitful cooperation, especially in international teacher training and especially the related promotion of young researchers.
Dealing with plurilingualism in schools in a way that promotes learning, as well as the early promotion of language (learning) awareness and culturally reflective learning processes are skills that are now part of the training portfolio of prospective foreign language teachers and which, among other things, through the New Companion Volume of the GER even more in the foreign language Curricula are anchored. These skills can be acquired particularly efficiently in international cooperation and exchange situations, since in the underlying plurilingual and -cultural communication situation, language and culture-reflective processes can not only be explained theoretically, but can also be experienced and deepened in intercultural exchange.
Accordingly, the topic of the GIP is "Cultural and language awareness in international teacher training in the subject of German as a foreign language", which is divided into the following research blocks of the project:
- Culture-reflective learning (Cultural awareness) in language learning
- Exchange/Collaboration research
- Research on Teaching and learning materials
- Instructional research and interaction
Through the application of innovative, theoretical-practical and research-empirical courses in the format "Research-based learning", "Research internship", "Practical exploration project", "Intercultural project work", a close integration of research and teaching in international teacher training is sought. The support achieved in this way for young scientists during their university studies is continued through joint international research support for young researchers at all three locations.
