In this book project Brigitte Adriaensen analyses how contemporary Latin American literature uses different types of humour (black humour, parody, irony, cynicism) in the representation of violence. In one of the chapters included, the focus is on how literature reflects on the relation between tourism and violence. In this chapter, she studies literary texts from Guatemala, Dominican Republic and Mexico in which (dark) tourism is approached with a critical, humoristic perspective.
