The mission of Living Lab B7 is summarised in seven Bs: to work with Farmers (Boeren), Residents (Bewoners), Visitors (Bezoekers) and Policymakers (Beleidsmakers) towards a Better Biodiversity in the Bulb Region. In Living Lab B7, knowledge is developed aimed at biodiversity improvement. Together with local parties, we gain experiences and insights that we in turn disseminate further in the region. An important goal of Living Lab B7 is to make an impact in the region. That is why we also play a driving and connecting role in initiatives aimed at biodiversity.
Living Lab B7 originated from the ideas of National Park Hollandse Duinen and has taken shape in a consortium of the knowledge institutions Netherlands Institute for Ecology (NIOO-KNAW), HAS green academy, and Radboud University in collaboration with a large number of area partners. It is part of an NWA research programme in support of the Delta Plan Biodiversity Restoration, set up to gain more insight into the opportunities for biodiversity restoration in rural areas. The Bulb Region is part of National Park Hollandse Duinen. Activities in Living Lab B7 aimed at biodiversity improvement therefore also contribute to the national park's ambition to better develop nature and landscape in the area.
