Key question
How can we combine, structure, analyse, and present a school’s available data for determination during the extended two-year start of secondary school?
The transition from primary to secondary education is a sensitive shift for a lot of students. Research shows that the transition can have negative consequences on students’ school performance, well-being, and motivation, and it can lead to a larger inequality of opportunity. A good determination that matches students to levels that fit them well is therefore crucial for each student.
NOLAI is the national education lab AI for primary, secondary, and special education in the Netherlands, funded by the National Growth Fund. €80 million has been awarded for the period of 2022 to 2032 in order to develop prototypes and gather knowledge about AI in education together with schools, corporations, and scientists over the span of ten years. Each academic year, around ten new projects are launched all across the Netherlands. A project takes three years on average.
