Elderly care staff are faced with an increasing number of residents with complex care needs, staff shortages and demanding working conditions. Many elderly care staff consider leaving the profession or do not believe themselves to be able to continue until retirement age. Our goal is therefore to contribute to the sustainable employability (SE) of elderly care staff by a) systematically reviewing literature on the effectiveness of interventions at work aimed at the SE of elderly care staff, b) qualitatively assessing the needs of elderly care staff regarding SE and, c) developing, implementing and evaluating an intervention (based on a and b) to enhance the SE of elderly care staff.
