Byzantine Studies Netherlands is a society that welcomes anyone who is occupied with the study of Byzantium within the Netherlands. The society wishes to offer a platform to its members and promote their interests nationally and internationally. The society is the Dutch committee of the Association Internationale des Etudes Byzantines (AIEB). This website contains information on activities in the field of Byzantine studies both in the Netherlands and abroad.

Subscribe as a member
Membership is open to anyone who wants to support the objectives of the society Byzantine Studies Netherlands (BSN) and who wants to become a member of the international community of Byzantinists. A member of BSN is automatically also a member of the Association Internationale des Études Byzantines (AIEB).
Membership fees
- € 15,- annual fee
- € 10,- annual fee for student members
This fee can be transferred to the account of Nederlandse Byzantijnse Kring, NL42RABO0158367804. Please mention “Contribution + year + your name”.
Benefits of membership
- You are automatically also a member of the Association Internationale des Études Byzantines (AIEB), allowing you to participate in their international congresses in the field of Byzantine studies.
- Possibility to participate in the annual BSN meeting, where you can get to know other colleagues in an informal way and exchange ideas.
- You receive the newsletter free of charge with both a national and an international agenda and for students, there is further information regarding courses, internships, lectures, congresses, exhibitions etc.
- On this website, you can inform others about publications, research and announcements for exhibitions, courses, lectures, workshops, conferences and other projects.
- Members can publish their annual list of publications in Byzantinische Zeitschrift
