Gladdening

In case of snowfall or black ice, Campus & Facilities does all it can to keep the campus safe. There is active gritting on roads, car parks, at building entrances and on the main (bicycle) paths. In case of snowfall, the snow plough is deployed.

Well before opening hours on campus, the gritting team goes out, following a set route. All roads, cycle paths and entrances are taken. On paths and roads that are used less frequently, it sometimes takes longer for snow or ice to clear. Paths and parking areas without paving are not gritted or swept, it is not possible.

What can you do yourself?

Bear in mind that there may be times when slippery spots suddenly appear, for example between warning of slipperiness and gritting. This carries risks, such as slipping or damage.

So adjust your driving behaviour when it is slippery and drive slowly and carefully. Pay extra attention, especially in places that are less gritted.
