Restore Wi-Fi connection

You will occasionally need to reconnect your device to Eduroam (Wi-Fi) because your Wi-Fi connection on campus is no longer working. Click here to find out how you can re-establish the Wi-Fi connection (Eduroam) for your type of device.

Steps

  1. Note:

    • Your username consists of a letter (u, s or e) and your staff or student number. Fill this out with @ru.nl (For example: u123456 [at] ru.nl).
    • You will need to be on campus to re-establish the Wi-Fi connection.

    Laptop

    Windows

    • Click on the network / wifi icon in the lower right corner and then choose Network and Internet Settings.
    • On the left side choose Wifi and then choose Manage known networks.
    • Search here for all networks with the name eduroam, click here and choose not to remember.
    • Now reconnect using the instructions on Wifi setup and choose the option that applies to you.

    Mac

    • Go to System Preferences and make sure you see Profiles here.
      • If you see this option, delete all eduroam profiles.
    • Go back to System Preferences and click Network.
      • If a padlock is visible at the bottom left, click on it and log in with your Mac account.
    • Click on Wi-fi and then click on Advanced, find all networks with the name eduroam and remove them by pressing the minus sign.
    • Click OK and then click Apply.
    • Now reconnect using the instructions on Wifi set up and choose the option that applies to you.

    Telephone

    Android phone

    • Go to your phone's settings and find the Wifi option.
    • Find the network eduroam and hold your finger here long, a menu appears. Choose here for Forget.

    If you don't see this option, you can skip this step.

    • Now reconnect using the instructions on Wifi setup and choose the option that applies to you.

    iPhone

    If you get a message to accept the new certificate, choose yes. Eduroam will work again after this. If not, follow the instructions below.

    • Go to settings and click on General.
    • If you see the option Profiles, click here and delete the profiles with the name eduroam.

    If you don't see this option, you can skip this step.

    • Go to Settings and click on Wifi.
      Find the network eduroam, click on the 'blue I' behind the network and choose for Forget this network.

    If you don't see this option, you can skip this step.

    • Now reconnect using the instructions on Wifi settings and choose the option that applies to you.

    Tablet

    The steps on a tablet are the same as for phones, follow the instructions above.
