What are the similarities and differences between Christian, Islamic, and Buddhist views on nature? And can non‑believers also learn something from these traditions? Religions are often accused of standing in the way of a sustainable approach to the climate. Christianity in particular is said to place humans above the rest of nature, thereby encouraging exploitation. In this view, it would have laid the foundation for today’s ecological crisis. But is that really true? How do Buddhism and Islam understand the relationship between humans and nature?
Come listen to theologian Christoph Hübenthal, Islamologist Wietske Merison, and scholar of Buddhism Paul van der Velde as they explore how different religions view sustainability.
