What drives tradwives

Monday 9 September 2024, 8 pm - 9:30 pm
Dutch lecture and conversation

Venue: LUX, Nijmegen

Being a full-time housewife: cooking, cleaning and taking care of the children while your husband earns a living. Some women go back to the traditional division of roles between husband and wife. Tradwives they call themselves. A few have successful social media channels where they vlog and post about their lifestyle. Why are these women so eager to return to earlier times? Is this the downfall of women's liberation, or just a new kind of feminism? Come hear theologian Mariecke van den Berg and sociologist Katia Begall, and find out what drives tradwives.

What will you reflect on? Examining what is of value.

For more than a hundred years, philosophers, theologians and religious scholars at Radboud University have reflected on the world in all its aspects. They bring worlds into view that remained hidden, because they speak for themselves or were never suspected. In doing so, our researchers, lecturers and alumni offer reflections to a society they are part of.

You have a part to play.
