A woman goes to the doctor’s office… and is not always helped equally well. A gender gap in healthcare still exists. Treatments do not always align well with the needs of women, and conditions affecting women are often researched less than those affecting men. Moreover, women’s complaints are sometimes dismissed as complaining or seen as something to be expected. How did this come about? What are the consequences? And what does this say about gender equality more broadly? Come and listen to internist Saskia Middeldorp and gender historian Marloes Hülsken and learn more about women’s health.
