Do you constantly hear about cryptocurrency, but have no idea what it is? What is cryptocurrency, and what are its advantages and disadvantages? How does it affect established institutions? Can you really earn that much money with it? And is there anything valuable beneath all the hype and scams? Come and listen to philosopher Frank van Caspel who will guide you through the world of cryptocurrency.
No trust required
According to Frank van Caspel, cryptocurrency could be a fantastic alternative to our current monetary system, because everyone has equal access to it, there is no censorship, and transactions can remain private. No trust is required. These are all things for which we currently have to rely on central institutions such as banks. Blockchains enable a “trustless” form of (global) cooperation, thereby creating a fundamentally new arena for human cooperation. You are in complete control. Moreover, it leads to decentralisation because we no longer need large institutions such as banks. So, are there only advantages? What's the catch? Moderator Bas van Woerkum-Rooker asks Frank van Caspel all about it.
The language of discussion is English.
