“To truly get to know yourself, you need positive encounters with others.” This, in a nutshell, is the theory of affirmation, the best‑known concept developed by the Nijmegen psychiatrist Anna Terruwe (1911–2004). As a driven scholar, an independent woman in a male-dominated world, an innovative psychiatrist, and a traditional Roman Catholic, she inspired both admiration and resistance.

Who was Anna Terruwe, and how does her theory relate to the ways in which scholars today think about identity? Come listen to Radboud researchers discuss Anna Terruwe, mindfulness, and social media.
