Psychopaths among us | Neuropsychologist Josi Driessen | Infinite

Thursday 11 September | 9.55 p.m. - 10.15 p.m. | Middenschip Stevenskerk | Live podcast recording

When we think of psychopaths, we often think of the stereotypical violent criminals who ruthlessly eliminate everything and everyone in their path. But in our society, there are many “ordinary” people who score high on psychopathy. These are people who make decisions in a different way, with their brains working differently. Neuroscientist Josi Driessen explains exactly what a psychopath is, how she studies them and whether it is possible to “cure” psychopathy. Or are you stuck with it forever?

The language of this lecture is Dutch.

About the speaker

Josi Driessen is an assistant professor of neuropsychology and rehabilitation psychology. Her research focuses on how people make choices and how they process social information. She is particularly interested in people who exhibit traits of psychopathy. Using behavioural tasks while scanning the brain and brain stimulation, she investigates how the brains of psychopaths work.
