Mulika
In the short film Mulika by Maisha Maene, an “afronaut” emerges from the wreckage of a spaceship in the volcanic crater of Nyiragongo. As he descends into the city below and meets the people of present-day Goma, he begins to understand what he must do to change the future for his people.
Science fiction sketches visions of the future, making it possible to reflect on things that do not (yet) exist. Theologian Tom de Bruin will discuss the role of biblical stories in science fiction and what this reveals about the role of religion in society.
The program will be in English. The film is spoken in multiple languages and subtitled in English and French.
Ethicist Marcel Becker will moderate the discussion.
