How can music create silence? What exactly do we mean by this? And does it matter what music you listen to? Come along, be inspired by the knowledge of psychologist and music scholar  Krisna Adiasto of Radboud University and the music of Cassandra Onck and plunge back into Zwarte Cross!

Contradictory

We listen to music for different reasons. Here at Zwarte Cross, for example, mainly to go crazy or dance to it. But did you know that music can also create silence? Strange, because doesn't music fill up silence?

What is silence?

What is meant by silence? You may initially think of the absence of sound, but it can also refer to a form of inner peace and contemplation. In other words, listening to music can lead to a form of stillness. But how exactly does this work? Can this type of stillness be a way to gain peace of mind? And does this necessarily require listening to classical music, or can heavy metal and apres-ski music have the same effect?

Come hear psychologist and music scholar Krisna Adiasto and ask your own questions. Cassandra Onck will provide the musical accompaniment.

The spoken language is Dutch.
