The Stroker
Imagine someone unexpectedly pats you on the shoulder at work. How would you perceive this? As inappropriate, or as caring and attentive? In the short film The Stroker, a boss hires a wellness consultant to touch the employees. This film raises questions about how we view touch.
Touch
Touch is never simple or straightforward. Ethical ambiguities surround sexual intimacy, there is a tension between experiences of pleasure and cultural norms, and epidemics show us the politics of proximity and distance. Rachel Aumiller takes a philosophical look at the many sides of touch and what touch means in our society. Come and listen to RaeAumiller.
Ethicist Marcel Becker will moderate the discussion.
The language of discussion is English. The documentary is in English and has no subtitles.
Do you have a question for the speaker afterward? Save it for Let’s Rethink. After the program ends, the speaker will be available for you in the Exporuimte.
