In the United States, the influence of companies such as X and Meta on democracy is abundantly clear. But in the Netherlands it's happening much more than you might think. We seem to have accepted this, but is that wise? Political scientist Tjidde Tempels explains in an interactive lecture how we can get a grip on this process. How can democracy be given back to the people?
This lecture is in English.
About the speaker
Tjidde Tempels is a university lecturer in Political Theory at the Department of Political Science and coordinator of the Sustainable Democracy research hotspot. He is interested in (non-)democratic theories, democratic renewal, and socially (un)responsible entrepreneurship. His research aims to gain insight into whether and why political involvement of companies in our democracies is (un)desirable.
