Who was the German philosopher, sociologist, and public intellectual Jürgen Habermas? Habermas recently passed away at the age of 96. As a child of the war, he spent his entire life fighting for freedom, democracy, and the liberal rule of law. Why was Habermas one of the most influential thinkers of the twentieth century? And why is his work still so important today? Learn from social philosopher Vivienne Matthies-Boon and political philosopher Bert van den Brink about what Habermas has meant for the democracy as we know it today, and what he thought of social media.
