Storing and sharing research data

Some faculties and research institutes at Radboud University have an RDM policy that requires researchers to use specific storage and sharing options. Before deciding where you will store your research data and how to share those data during your project, have a look at your institute's RDM policy to see which options your institute recommends.

When sharing personal data make sure they can only be seen and used by persons who are legally allowed to do so and in compliance with the information provided in the informed consent form. Also, consider if a read-only access authorization is sufficient.

Storage and sharing tools

Compare the available tools for storage and/or sharing to choose a suitable tool for your research at Radboud University. Storage sites are suitable for storing a certain type of information if it has a ‘V’ after it and not suitable if it has an ‘X’ after it.

Inappropriate ways of storing and sharing

Examples of storage and sharing solutions that are not appropriate are:

  • Personal cloud drives, such as Google Drive, Dropbox, a personal OneDrive or WeTransfer
  • External drives, such as USB drives, external hard drives etc.
