In and around our building

Need a moment to yourself? We provide several spaces to take your mind off your textbook or work in and around the University Chaplaincy. This includes meditating, getting creative and working in the garden.

Reserving a space in the University Chaplaincy

There are several rooms available for students and staff to organise activities in. More info on this can be found on the page about reserving a space in the University Chaplaincy.

Inside our church building

Church

In our church, you can attend celebrations, sing, pray and commemorate. You are always welcome to drop by. Curious about what celebrations are on or what else you can do in the church? Then check out religious activities.

Islamic prayer room

You can visit our Islamic prayer room for prayer or reflection. The space can be found at the very back of our building. There are separate washing facilities in front of the prayer room. Would you like to use the room? Then just let us know you will be there.

Woonkamer Studentenkerk

Living room and kitchen

Our living room is a public space. It is regularly used for social activities, such as cooking evenings or group meetings. In addition, you can always come here to relax, play board games, read, play music on the instruments provided and meet each other.

Quiet room

Our quiet room on the first floor is always available for meditation or a moment of silence. There are suitable meditation benches available in the closet.

Creative expression

In room 1.11, there is a piano to play and you can get creative with paint, pastels and collages. You may also take the materials outside. We do ask you to sign in when you enter and neatly put away the things afterwards.

Outside in our garden

Hammocks

In the living room, hammocks are provided to take and hang in the garden. Dangling in the hammock is especially nice with good weather.

Wishing fence

In the garden there is a wishing fence on which you can hang a ribbon. The ribbons can be found in the living room.

Dream tree

In the garden you can find a dream tree: a tree to lie in, dream in and imagine what it feels like to be a tree. If the tree is free, you can lie in it anytime. Would you like a blanket? You can ask inside.

The original tree was blown down due to a storm. Stadsboom reworked it into a meditation tree.

Purification Grave

As the theme of mortality and reflecting on your life remains important, we have something special in our garden: a grave you can lie in. How long you lie there is up to you! Without a phone or books, so you really get to yourself for a while. Think of it as a unique place to meditate: the earth beneath you, the sky above you. In this way, you will naturally discover what goes through you. Do you dare?

Just register with us and we will give you cushions and mats. Would you like to talk about your experience afterwards? Please let us know.

Gardening

Would you like to spend some time with your hands? Do you like taking care of flowers and plants? It is possible to set up and look after a small (wild) garden in our garden. You can do this on your own or start a group with fellow students. Contact us if you are interested.
