Adoption or foster care leave

If you adopt a child, you are entitled to a maximum of six weeks leave. If you become a foster parent, you may also qualify for leave. You can discuss your adoption leave or foster care leave with your supervisor.

You will need to request your leave from your personnel HR officer at least three weeks in advance.

Extended period of leave

If you wish to take an extended period of leave, you can use your accrued hours for a sabbatical or long-term leave. You will need to coordinate this type of leave with your supervisor.
