Internal relocation Maria Montessori building

Duration
1 July 2025 until now
Project type
Real estate

To contribute to the necessary austerity measures, the Faculty of Social Sciences will hand over part of its office space to Campus & Facilities from 1 October 2025. This move will lead to annual savings of around €660,000 and ensure that available spaces are used more efficiently within the university. This means that workstations will be handled differently and more workstations will be shared.

What will change?

From 1 October, the following spaces will be returned to Campus & Facilities:

  • The entire third floor of the blue wing
  • Part of the second floor of the blue wing
  • Some offices on the fourth floor of the green wing

In total, this concerns 23.5% of the workplaces in Maria Montessori. This choice was made carefully. The average occupancy rate of the building is currently 32.5%, peaking at 40.8%. This keeps sufficient working space available for staff even after the return of rooms.

Internal relocation

The return requires a rearrangement of available workstations and a new way of handling workstations. This means internal relocation and smarter sharing of workstations. All employees will remain welcome in the Maria Montessori building; working from home will not be used as a substitute.

In coordination with the managing directors of the research institutes, a logical redistribution has been drawn up, keeping teams together as much as possible and promoting cooperation. The programme directors and department heads are also involved.
