Goal

The goal is to further encourage the sharing and reuse of self-developed digital learning materials. This contributes to improving the quality of education and saves teachers a considerable amount of time. In the project, we focus on increasing knowledge about Open Educational Resources (OER) and expanding the number of subject communities at Radboud University.

In line with the educational vision, we want to make these materials more accessible and visible both regionally and nationally. By actively encouraging teachers and educational developers to openly share their self-created digital learning materials, we are jointly building a future in which open, accessible educational materials are available to all.

Approach

Phase 1 (January – April 2025)

Discover how open educational resources (OER) can enrich your teaching and make your work easier. This phase focuses on raising awareness and providing inspiration. Through workshops at the Education Days 2025, presentations, and updates on our lecturers' website, we’ll show you how to integrate these resources into your subject area. Additionally, we’re launching the Special Interest Group (SIG) Open Education, where you can explore practical examples and tools with colleagues. Ready to start? Our self-paced e-learning module (available soon) offers tips and tools you can apply straight away.

Phase 2 (April – July 2025)

This phase is all about helping you actively use open educational resources. Together with colleagues, you’ll set up a subject community for your programme where teaching materials can be shared. Lecturers from the same programme at other universities will also be invited to contribute their materials, creating a richer, more diverse collection. We’re expanding existing collections, making it easier for you to find the resources you need. Practical examples will show you how these materials can strengthen your teaching immediately. Collaboration, inspiration, and achieving better results together are at the heart of this phase.

Phase 3 (Academic Year 2024/2025)

Now it’s time to integrate open educational resources into your teaching. You’ll receive personalised support from the Radboud Open Education Team to effectively implement these materials, with ongoing improvements based on practical experiences. Meanwhile, we’ll continue expanding collections through collaborations with other educational institutions. The outcome? A growing network of shared knowledge and resources that makes teaching and learning even better.

Expected results

We aim for every teacher to be familiar with the use of OERs by the end of 2025. We aim for a growth in the sharing and use of OERs by expanding the number of subject groups and making more learning materials available online. We also expect this project to promote cooperation between educational institutions and more learning resources to be actively shared within national subject groups.

Funding

This project is supported by Npuls through the OpenUp scheme, which encourages mbo, hbo and wo institutions to further develop digital and open learning materials. The scheme offers financial support, guidance and knowledge sharing and promotes cooperation between institutions and partners. Npuls is the National Growth Fund programme of and for all public mbo schools, colleges and universities in the Netherlands.
