The IMAPP PhD Award for Scientific Communication has been awarded to Ariadna Ribes Metidieri (High Energy Physics) for her captivating presentation, "Seeing the Invisible," which explored the mysteries of black holes. Her engaging storytelling and clarity in explaining complex concepts earned her the top honor in a competition filled with stellar presentations and fierce competition.
Honorable mentions go out to Wouter van Harten (Mathematics), who presented on preconditioning in Monte Carlo simulations, and
Bart Zonneveld (High Energy Physics), whose research delved into the complexities of quantum gravity.
The event was not just about groundbreaking science but also creativity— for instance, actual pancakes made an appearance in Bart's presentation, Wouter got us to imagine that we were the mayor of Nijmegen and Ariadna had a mystery box.
Ariadna will be awarded EUR 500 and will present her winning presentation during the next, revamped IMAPP Afternoon.
