Last Tuesday, the annual Summer Drinks of the Faculty of Arts took place, where we traditionally kick off the summer. It was a pleasant and sunny gathering and it was good to see so many colleagues.
Several awards were presented during the drinks. The Faculty Teaching Awards were presented to lecturers nominated for the award by their students, who showed their appreciation for their lecturer's dedication through this nomination. The Faculty Teaching Prize for Junior Lecturer was awarded to Nino Vallen and the Teaching Prize for Senior Lecturer to Béryl Hilberink-Schulpen.
Besides Education Awards, Research Awards were also presented during the drinks reception. The High Impact Research Awards for RICH was awarded to the Heritages of Hunger project team for developing a database, exhibition, teaching materials and a policy document for the commemoration and better understanding famines worldwide. For CLS, the prize was awarded to Wieke Harmsen for the development of a new instrument to automatically detect and analyse spelling errors of primary school children. Jeroen Dera and Susanne Brouwer received the RICH Outstanding Research Award for their research on the impact of #BookTok on secondary school students' reading motivation.
