Whether these hours expire automatically on 31 December depends on the various expiry and limitation periods that apply to different types of leave hours. What is automatically adjusted, however, is that your working hours – if your leave balance exceeds 80 hours (on a full-time basis) on 31 December – will always revert to the standard option at the start of the new year.

Clarification regarding holiday hours expiring at the end of the year
All staff members received an email on 1 October entitled ‘Check your holiday hours balance in BASS’. This states that holiday hours in excess of 80 hours (on a pro rata basis) will automatically expire. This requires some further explanation.
