Collin Mark Joseph and Joyce van Dalen won The IMAPP PhD award for scientific communication

Colin Mark has the ability to describe his purely mathematical work in non-commutative geometry for a larger audience, with examples that his public can relate to without sacrificing the mathematical complexities of the problem. 

Joyce is able to show her enthusiasm for the study of fast x-ray transients to a wide range of people, from experts to high school students. She is part of the outreach team of the Astrophysics department.
