Division director gradually steps down and prepares own successor

Arjen Peters, director of the Finance & Control division, will start working one day less a week from spring 2027 before retiring in autumn 2028. To ensure a smooth transition from one director to the next, the university is already recruiting a successor who will be shown the ropes by Peters from next spring onwards.

‘With my retirement date approaching, I have decided not to stop work abruptly all at once, but to phase out my role over a period of one and a half years,’ explains Peters. ‘Following careful consultation, and partly prompted by the upcoming changes to the structure and organisation of the Finance and Control Division, we have decided to recruit a new director.’ That recruitment process will begin in the coming weeks.

The aim is to have appointed a new director by spring 2027, who can then be trained by Peters. ‘In my new role as Corporate Controller, I will continue to apply and pass on my knowledge and expertise until my retirement on 1 October 2028. So I’m not leaving just yet, but I will be taking on a different role.’

Peters has been working at Radboud University for a long time and during his employment he has gained extensive knowledge of and experience with the organisation. As he is not stepping down all at once, he will be able to carefully pass on that knowledge and experience, ensuring that it is not lost to the university.
