Evaluation Governance model Radboud University launched

How is Radboud University currently governed and is it still working as intended in practice? To answer these questions Radboud University is, also at the request of and in consultation with the University Joint Assembly (UGV), now launching an evaluation of the current governance model. When it was introduced in 2021, it was stipulated that the model should be carefully evaluated after several years.

Every university has its own governance model. A governance model describes how the university is managed. It explains how responsibilities, powers and decision-making are organised within the institution. The evaluation focuses on the effectiveness of the model, how it works in practice and whether it is sufficiently future-proof, also in relation to the new strategy. The results are expected in June.

Conduct and structure of the evaluation

The evaluation is based on desk research, interviews and group interviews. It also includes experiences from other universities. To ensure the independence of the evaluation, Derek Jan Fikkers is conducting the investigation. Fikkers is a Radboud University alumnus, was previously director of strategy at another university and has extensive experience in governance issues in universities at home and abroad. Where necessary, he will formulate recommendations for improving the governance model.

A steering group with representatives from the Executive Board, faculties, the support organisation and the University Joint Assembly (UGV) will be set up to guide the process.
