FNWI team award for SLIME project

The FNWI team award 2025 has been granted to the SLIME project: Sensor for the Living Intestinal Mucus Ecosystem.

SLIME: Sensor for the Living Intestinal Mucus Ecosystem

This team develops an innovative ingestible sensor (“smart pill”) to measure gut microbiome activity, aiming to improve diagnostics of gastrointestinal health. They achieved substantial progress in a short time, including a patent and a competitive proposal submission, supported by a highly diverse team spanning scientific and support roles across multiple institutes. The collaboration is clearly strong and the societal relevance is evident. Overall, it is a promising and ambitious initiative marked by creativity and cross-campus teamwork. The strength of this highly diverse team (including members from the university and companies) lies in the joint focus and dedication.
