On the third Tuesday of every month, Windows updates are automatically installed on your Windows workplace managed by Radboud University. These updates ensure that your workplace is better protected against security risks and remains secure. In order to apply the updates, you currently need to manually restart your laptop yourself.
Windows workplace will automatically restart
Starting from 15 April, you will no longer need to manually restart your Windows laptop after updates, as this will now be forced. After the monthly Windows update, you will receive a notification that your laptop will be rebooted within 24 hours to apply the updates. Within that 24-hour window, you will have the option to restart the laptop yourself at an earlier time. After 24 hours, your Radboud-managed Windows laptop will be forced to shut down and restart. The first time this happens will be after the updates on Tuesday, 15 April. This will help keep your laptop secure and up-to-date more quickly.
Make sure to save your documents before restarting your laptop to avoid losing data or other information. Additionally, it is recommended to close apps before restarting your laptop.
Please note: This change applies only to Windows laptops managed by Radboud University. Fixed Windows workstations on campus (desktops) will be automatically restarted weekly.
