From e-learning to training: building a safe and open workplace culture

Creating and maintaining social safety is a shared responsibility. To strengthen mutual understanding and improve collaboration, all Radboud University employees are taking part in the Constructive Dialogue training. After a successful start in October, the second group of employees (those with surnames beginning with G to K) will soon receive an invitation to register.

But if you don't want to wait, you can already sign up now. Registration is open to everyone, so feel free to sign up if you want to participate earlier. Employees with surnames beginning with the letters A to F who have not yet participated can also still register.

A training that really benefits you

In the Constructive Dialogue training, you will learn practical and positive ways to handle difficult conversations. How do you address tension when something doesn’t feel right? How do you truly listen to someone, even when you disagree? Participants say the training helps them listen without judgement and engage in conversations more respectfully and with greater confidence.

Watch the video below in which two colleagues talk about their experience with the training and what they gained from the training.

Social Safety e-learning: a great place to start

In addition to the training, there is also the Social Safety e-learning, which has been available since June. This e-learning provides an important starting point for understanding what social safety means and the part you plaay in creating it.

A colleague’s reflection:

To be honest, I wasn’t looking forward to doing another e-learning, but I have to say I went through this one with real interest and enjoyment. The videos in the first part really made me think — also about my own behaviour in similar situations. I especially liked the four examples of different possible responses. It’s great to see there isn’t just one ‘right’ reaction, but that you can choose what feels natural to you. I really appreciated that.

Haven't completed the e-learning yet? Take some time to do so. It is valuable, practical and helps you approach situations in the workplace with more understanding and awareness.

Starting in January: programme for supervisors

From January onwards, a dedicated programme for supervisors will begin: Impactful Leadership: towards a socially safe culture. This training ties in with the Constructive dialogue training for employees and has been specially developed to support supervisors in their role in promoting a safe and open working environment.
