Have you heard of the grants of the Comenius programme yet?

What are the grants in the Comenius programme?

The Comenius programme gives an impetus to educational renewal and improvement in higher education. The three different grants can fund innovation projects with different durations. There are various grants: Teaching Fellows, Senior Fellows and Leadership Fellows. You can find previously awarded projects here.

Application procedure

  • You can submit your application for a Teaching Fellow directly to the Netherlands Initiative for Education Research (NRO). Esther Diebels from the Teaching Information Point (tipscience [at] ru.nl (tipscience[at]ru[dot]nl)) can provide support.
  • Applications for a Senior Fellow or a Leadership Fellow must first be submitted to Laura van Niftrik (laura.vanniftrik [at] ru.nl (laura[dot]vanniftrik[at]ru[dot]nl)). This indicates your intention to submit an application. If you have questions or need assistance, please contact Esther Diebels from the Teaching Information Point (tipscience [at] ru.nl (tipscience[at]ru[dot]nl)).

Experiences so far

Our experience is that collaborating on educational innovation is not only inspiring but also offers new ideas and opportunities. By working on a project together with colleagues, support teams and experts within the Faculty of Science, we discover new perspectives and solutions. You get space to experiment and together with others you give direction to the project.

Jelle Hilbers' story about his Comenius grant

Why did you apply for a grant?

"Obtaining a Comenius grant is an excellent opportunity to innovate in your teaching. However, the process of writing a proposal and implementing the innovation plans can be quite discouraging and challenging."

How did you manage to succeed?

"I was very fortunate with all the support I received throughout the entire process, and can say that my Comenius project truly became a team effort, thanks to the invaluable contributions from Esther at the Teaching Information Point, our educational innovator Nicole, colleagues from Radboud Educational Clips, students and others."

How did they help?

"They were invaluable in discussing and refining my innovation ideas, helping write the grant application and contributing to the implementation of my plans. This collaborative approach made working on my Comenius project simply enjoyable and inspiring!"
