In memoriam Marlie Becks

On Monday, July 10, 2023, Marlie Becks, former student advisor at the Faculty of Science (FNWI), passed away after a short illness. She has turned 65 years old. In August 2022, Marlie took early retirement to enjoy her family and nature. Unfortunately, that didn't last long.

During her time at Radboud University, Marlie held various educational support positions. She started her career more than 35 years ago as a teaching assistant at Biology. She then worked as a student advisor, education coordinator and lecturer in the Environmental Sciences department. For the Environmental Natural Sciences programme, she developed and provided, among other things, a vocational orientation course. She also worked for more than seven years as the official secretary of the examination boards of the Faculty of Science, where she played a major role in the quality assurance of education and examinations. Many student files have passed through her hands.

Marlie Becks

Marlie was an enthusiastic and driven colleague with a heart for the business; her knowledge, enthusiasm and commitment made her work a success. With her personal approach and always friendly nature, no matter how busy she was, she always had time for her colleagues and students. In recent years, Marlie worked as a student advisor for the Master's in Medical Biology, a position in which she found renewed energy. Her students adored her.

Even though Marlie is no longer with us, we will always carry a piece of her in our hearts.
