In September, the first phase of a process aimed at optimising Radboud University's business operations will start. Where can we simplify processes, make them more customer-friendly, digitise them and/or prevent double the work? And how would these improvements contribute to the university’s financial austerity challenge? Business operations refers to the professional services within both faculties and Radboud Services (e.g. HR, Marketing & Communications, Finance & Control, Information & Library Services, Campus & Facilities, Academic Affairs) that facilitate teaching and research at our university.
In this first phase, which runs until the end of 2024, an analysis and advice will be delivered by an internal project team, with the help of external expertise, as commissioned by Vice Chair of the Executive Board Agnes Muskens. This advice should provide insight into the possible interventions, their effectiveness and savings potential and how best to implement them. In January 2025, the outcomes of the first phase will be communicated and the second phase – implementing the advice – will commence. The RUDO (Radboud University Directors' Consultation) will intensively monitor and steer the entire process in both phases.
An important principle in the optimisation process is that it involves sustainable business management solutions that lead to both efficiency gains and cost savings as well as professional, modern services for the primary process of teaching and research.
