Launch of the Dutch research portal with OpenAIRE

On 3 July, the Dutch research portal NARCIS was replaced by the Netherlands Research Portal on OpenAIRE CONNECT. Publications, datasets and projects of Dutch research institutions are searchable in this database, in an international academic environment. The portal aims to connect Dutch research with a broad user group of (inter)national researchers, journalists, policymakers and companies.

Since 2004, NARCIS has been the national platform for Dutch repositories. Scientific articles, datasets and other publications were disseminated from there via (scientific) search engines, such as Google (Scholar). This way, journalists, policymakers and the general public can also learn about Dutch university research. Radboud University and Radboudumc research thus becomes even more globally visible without barriers.

The new portal provides an overview of the Dutch scientific landscape. Both universities and research institutes contribute their publications and datasets to the portal. Realisation is possible thanks to a broad cooperation of SURF (the ict-cooperation of education and research),  UKB (the joint university libraries and Koninklijke Bibliotheek), the Koninklijke Nederlandse Akademie van Wetenschappen (KNAW), the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO), Samenwerkingsverband Hogeschoolbibliotheken (SHB), Nederlandse Federatie van Universitair Medische Centra (NFU) and Universiteiten van Nederland (UNL).
