The Selection Model allows you to allocate part of your employment benefits flexibly. This can, in some cases, result in a tax benefit. For example, you can exchange (taxable) income for a (tax-free) allowance to cover the costs you have.
Information session on the Selection Model
Would you like to find out more about how to use the Selection Model and how to complete it in BASS? If so, please join one of the online information sessions organised by HR on 1 October (NL), 8 October (EN) and 13 October (NL) [link].
Tip: Do not wait until the last minute to make a selection. Sometimes a request in the Employment Conditions Selection Model does not meet all the requirements, which means that a request might need to be re-submitted. The same deadline applies to this re-submitted request.
End-of-year bonus (R)
The deadline for exchanging the end-of-year bonus 2026 is 31 October 2026.
Holiday hours (B)
The deadline for exchanging holiday hours for 2026 is 30 November 2026.
Supplementary travel allowance (A)
It is possible to supplement your travel allowance up to €0.25 per kilometre or up to 100% of the public transport costs incurred. This is only possible if you travelled to the campus for work, entered this claim for commuting expenses in BASS and it has already been processed by the Payroll Department. Even if you do not receive any travel allowance because you live less than 11 km away and do not travel by bicycle, and you want to apply for travel allowance via the Selection Model, you must enter the days travelled in BASS. The deadline for supplementing your travel allowance is 30 November 2026.
Art, culture and sport allowance (A)
All employees are eligible for an art, culture and sports allowance (€120 for full-time contracts). You can use this for activities or courses in the field of art and culture or a sports membership. Examples include: fitness, football, fishing, museum year card, cinema visits, etc. The deadline for applying for this allowance is 30 November 2026.
Other allocations (A)
Exchange options for costs incurred in 2026 may be exercised until 31 January 2027 at the latest.
Holiday hours
In addition to salary, holiday pay or your end-of-year bonus, you can also use holiday hours in the flexible working hours model. If you have (too) many holiday hours (holiday hours in excess of the statutory minimum/compensation hours), you may consider using those hours in the flexible working model or selling some of them. This reduces the chance that these hours will expire.
Please note: All choices made from 1 December 2026 onwards must be made using sources from 2027. For example: the costs of a bicycle purchased in 2026 can be entered in the Employment Conditions Selection Model until 31 January 2027 at the latest. After that, this will no longer be possible. If you enter the costs before 1 December 2026, you use a source from 2026. If you enter the costs between 1 December 2026 and 31 January 2027, you use a source from 2027.
